  • Detecting faulty cables
  • Update graphics drivers
  • Scan for viruses and malware
  • Set a proper resolution
  • Perform a complete shutdown
  • Reseat the RAM
  • Reseat CMOS/BIOS

1st Step: Checking & Resolving

Initially, you have to perform some obvious checking. These are some primary and essential steps to follow. Sometimes these tiny and initial tasks can solve the monitor blackout problem.

You have to

  • Check the proper power supply
  • Check all the cables are connected properly
  • Check if the brightness is too low
  • Check if the computer is in the sleep mode
  • Check if any cables are faulty

Ensure A Stable Power Supply

An inadequate power supply can prevent your AOC monitor from working. You need to change the electrical outlet if it fails to provide enough power.

If you are using a multiplug, ensure it can supply adequate power to all the devices. If needed, change it too. Try to find a strong multiplug to support your devices.

How can you be sure that your outlet is faulty? Take your monitor to another outlet. Now power it up. If the monitor works fine, then the previous outlet is faulty.

Another way of checking is, using a multimeter. A properly working outlet will give you a measurement of 110 to 120 volts.

Ensure Proper Input & Output Connections

It means checking all the connections. Your monitor can be connected to many devices. Check if all the connections are made correctly.

Let me share with you a funny story. Recently my friend was having an issue with his AOC monitor. Later, it turned out that his cat pulled the HDMI cable a little bit. So, do not overlook checking if the cables are inserted properly.

Insert The Right Cable & Set The Right Input

An AOC monitor can support four types of cables and ports. They are HDMI, VGA, DP, and DVI. Do not forget to check if you are using the right cable for the right device and the right port.

HDMI, VGA, DP

However, you must also set the correct input source on the computer. Suppose you are using DP cable, then do this-

  • Find the Input/Source button. It is located on the right-hand side at the back or towards the bottom.
  • Press the button, and an input box will appear.
  • Toggle the options and set it to the DP option.

Follow the exact instructions for the other cables as well.

Examine Brightness & Modes

Is your screen black, or is the brightness too low? You can find it silly. But this simple thing can be overlooked too.

Find the brightness key at the top row of your keyboard. The key with the sun icon is the one. Press the key to bring back brightness to the screen.

Pressing the FN key and brightness key together will also work.

Is your computer in sleeping mode? Going into sleeping mode or power saving mode can also cause an AOC monitor blackout.

Press any key from the keyboard. Hold it for at least 30 seconds to wake your monitor from sleeping or power-saving mode.

Replace Any Faulty Cable

Defective cables can create trouble too. Most commonly, it is the video cable that is responsible. How can you identify a defective video cable?

Suppose you are using an HDMI cable. Borrow another HDMI cable from your friend. Now, try it with your monitor. If the monitor wakes up, you know the rest.

I would suggest changing the faulty cable as soon as possible. It can defect the port as well.

Examine The Adapter Too.

If you are using a display adapter, check that. A defective adapter can cause trouble with the proper power supply.

Also, make sure the adapter type matches your monitor’s configuration. Check out Dell technology’s article on different adapters and their use.

2nd Step: Software Troubleshoot

If the tasks of the initial step do not work, move toward the second step. This step follows some software adjustments.

The adjustment refers to some updating, scanning, and setting. The adjustments will hinder further trouble from happening. So, they can be performed even after the first step works.

Keep Up With The Drivers

AOC Monitor Driver Update

As you know, the backdated graphics driver is another cause of having no signal on the AOC monitor. So, you need to update the driver as soon as possible.

Driver Easy is the easiest solution here. This software helps you to update any driver and all drivers on your pc. All you have to do is to run the software.

It will automatically scan for outdated drivers. And it will offer you to update them as well automatically.

  • Download Driver Easy
  • Install & run the software
  • Wait for the scan to complete
  • Update graphics driver from the list
  • Or select Update All

Fight Against Viruses

Viruses or malware are a common enemy for your PC. They can create trouble with your monitor too. You need to scan and remove them regularly.

I am sure you are familiar with antivirus applications. They keep your computer safe from malware. Here is a list of the top ten popular antivirus applications you can take help from.

Set The Right Resolution

Your monitor can stop responding if the current resolution is higher than what it can handle. So, you need to find out the right resolution for your AOC monitor and adjust it.

Look at the back of your monitor. You will find a sticker containing the model number. Now put it on the AOC user manual lookup.

Now you know which resolution is perfect for your monitor. You have to set that resolution manually. For Windows 10, you can follow this process.

  • Press the Start button
  • Click on the Settings option
  • Go to the System
  • Select Advanced display settings
  • Go to the menu bar under Resolution
  • Select the preferred resolution
  • Hit on Apply button

3rd Step: Hardware Troubleshoot

If any of the tasks above do not solve your problem, this step is to try. This step requires some hardware troubleshooting.

  • Performing a full shutdown
  • Reseating the RAM stick
  • Resetting the CMOS/BIOS

Can bring your monitor to life.

Among these tasks, the total shutdown is an effective one. Even I suggest performing it more often for good PC health.

However, the other two tasks are for experts. I do not recommend acting those if you are unfamiliar with the PC’s hardware parts.

Perform A Complete Shutdown

Power Supply

It is exactly what it sounds like. You need to shut down your PC and restart it completely. This restart requires disconnecting all the devices and cable connection as well.

  • Power of the Computer
  • Disconnect it from the electric outlet
  • Disconnect all the additional devices
  • Lose all the wires
  • Wait about 5 munites
  • Replug all the cables
  • Power on the computer

How To Reseat The Ram Sticks?

  • Power off the computer properly
  • Open your PC unit with the proper tools
  • Carefully remove each of the RAM sticks
  • Reorder them and reinsert them
  • Insert them properly into the seats

Watch this video tutorial to get a clear idea. Do not attempt to act on this task if you are new to this technology.

How To Reset Cmos/Bios?

  • Turn off the computer
  • Disconnect it from the power source
  • Open the computer cover
  • Locate the CMOS/BIOS battery
  • It is on the board and looks like a coin
  • Remove it carefully
  • Wait for one to five minutes
  • Put it back on properly

Though the task looks easy, do not perform it with an unskilled hand. Watch this video tutorial for a clear and better idea.

Hopefully, the first and second steps will solve your problem. Most experts suggest those tasks if you go through support websites like Reddit and Quora for answers.

Go to the service center if none of the steps help. There must be some hardware issue with your PC or monitor that must be fixed.
