Homeland Security’s 90-Day Progress Report on “Border Security & Immigration Enforcement”
On January 25, 2017, Donald Trump issued his third Executive Order, EO 13767: “Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements.” It concerns the US/Mexico border and most famously directs that a wall be built there. It also orders many other actions, including building more detention centers, hiring 5,000 additional Border Patrol agents, empowering/forcing local law enforcement in the US interior to act as immigration agents, and so on.
It also required the Secretary of Homeland Security to submit a progress report to the President within 90 days of the signing of the EO (i.e., April 25, 2017). Under the Freedom of Information Act, I requested this report in July 2017. I received it today and have posted it above.
Note: The Washington Post received a leaked copy of a draft of this report, which they posted on April 12, 2017. The draft version is here, and the article about it is here. There are many difference between the draft and final versions.
